A total of 145 minor accidents were recorded in Macao when Typhoon Koppu swept past the island city, according to the figures released on Tuesday by Macao's Civil Protection Center.
Some five persons were injured in these accidents which occurred when strong winds brought by Typhoon Koppu dragged down tress, billboards, scaffolds and other objects.
Macao's Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau hoisted typhoon signal No. 8 on Monday evening, when Koppu moved within 150 km southeast of the city. All typhoon signals were lowered this afternoon as Koppu made its landing on the west coast of China's Guangdong Province.
The Civil Protection Center also said that 14 local residents sought shelter at the government's disaster relief facility.
Ferry services between Macao and Hong Kong, which was suspended when Typhoon Koppu hit the city, resumed this morning, and the city's three sea-crossing bridges were also opened after being temporarily closed last night due to the severe weather conditions.
