Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and an unlicensed farm tractor on Friday in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, local government said Saturday.
Another seven people were injured in the accident in Wuchang City, the municipal government said in a statement. They were sent to hospital and are now in stable condition.
The dead and injured were all passengers on the tractor, who were villagers of Dahuang, 700 meters away from the site.
The driver of the truck, who was the only one on the vehicle, suffered no injury and both drivers are held by the police for inquiry.
Initial investigation showed that the truck was running on the wrong lane and the tractor was overspeeding, according to the statement.
The cause of the accident is under further investigation. No further details were disclosed as of Saturday noon.
