A farmer holds four mice in hand in Yueyang, central China's Hunan
Province July 10. A people's war against mice had been launched as
some 2 billion mice were forced to flee their holes submerged by
ravaging flood waters around the Dongting Lake in the region. The
massive mice invasion wrecked havoc to dikes and ruined eight
million mu of (533,333 hectares) farmland in 22 counties. More than
100 people had been killed by China's extreme weather.
