A summer camp aiming to improve relations with children suffering from congenital heart disease has started in the botanical garden in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, Chutian Metropolis Daily reported on Monday.
Attending the camp are 100 children aged between 7 and 15, with half the members suffering from heart disease. Their healthy counterparts displayed sincere concern to their peers at their initial meeting on Sunday, such as the cheering up of a shy girl named Chen Yuxuan with a Mickey Mouse gift.
Once paired up, the two groups walked hand-in-hand to appreciate the great diversity of peculiar plants found in the botanical garden.
They extended their care to the plants, placing love notes on them to ask for protection.
During the one-week long event, the children also have a chance to learn paper-cutting from folk artists, and enjoy themselves in a variety of games.
Their journey will conclude with a party to honor outstanding summer camp members.
The event is sponsored by Chutian Metropolis Daily and Wuhan Asia Heart Hospital.
