Ancient tower plundered

This photo, taken on May 4, 2009, shows the Zhuizi Tower of Chaohu City in central China's Anhui Province. A large amount of the towers stonework, originally erected in the Ming Dynasty some 500 years ago, has been stolen over the past few days. In recent years the tower has been struck by thunderbolts on several occasions. [Photo: CFP]
