A giant national flag is seen on a red beach in Panjin, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, Sept 14, 2009. Soldiers from a border detachment in Panjin laid five yellow stars on the beach to form the Chinese national flag to celebrate the 60th anniversary of establishment of the PRC. Sea-blite plants which give the beach its red color live in the 60-sq km mud flat of Panjin and start to grow every April or May. The color is green at the beginning and turns red gradually. In September, the plants become a strong red hue, covering the whole alkaline beach. [Xinhua]
