More than 100 people in custody in quake-hit Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of northwest China's Qinghai Province have been transferred safely, authorities said Sunday.
Wu Heping, spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security, told a press conference that there was no accident or escape of detainees during the transfer.
A 7.1-magnitude quake struck Yushu early Wednesday. As of 10 a.m. Sunday, the devastating quake had killed 1,706 people, with 256 people still missing.
It also left 12,128 injured, of whom 1,424 were in severe condition, the rescue headquarters said.
