According to the statistics of Shandong provincial Department of Commerce, in 2012, the total volume of retail sales of consumer goods in Shandong province, was 1,900 billion yuan (US$304.95 billion), up by 15 percent.

In terms of foreign trade, the total achieved import and export volume in the province was US$245.54 billion in 2012, up by 4.1 percent on the previous year. Of this, export rose by 2.4 percent to US$128.73 billion and import by 6 percent to US$116.81 billion.

53 trade enterprises in the province had sales value exceeding 5 billion yuan (US$802.5 million).
