Reports indicate that the Demonstration Areas of Ecological Improvement Project along the Bailang River in Weifang’s Binhai District are almost completed, and the large-scale greenery project is underway.

Saline-alkali soil and lack of fresh water have long been the biggest problems facing ecological construction in Waifang. To solve these problems and improve ecological construction efforts, Binhai District is taking efforts to develop ecological construction and promote sustainable development of society and the economy. Binhai District will also launch the Comprehensive Improvement Project for Mountain, Sea, Lake and River to build a new ecological city with healthier living standards.

The Comprehensive Improvement Project for Mountain, Sea, Lake and River has been divided into two sections: South China Sea Cluster and the Bailiang River Estuary Ecological Demonstration Area. The former section focuses on improving saline-alkali soil by storing fresh water on saline alkali land, and allowing the fresh water to leach into the saline alkali soil. Meanwhile, the project is committed to developing a high-efficient ecological sightseeing industry and Water Front Business Area.

Bailiang River Ecological Improvement Demonstration Area is divided into six functional areas.

This project connects the areas of different functions as a whole to build an international coastal city and set a good example for man-made ecological landscape on saline alkali land.
