The Tenth National Dance Contest started in Linyi, Shangdong, on June 29.

Nine National Dance Contests have been successfully held since 1980. The tenth contest was hosted by the Ministry of Culture and the government of Shandong province. Xu Xianghong, Director of the Cultural Department of Shandong, together with other officials, attended the opening ceremony.

687 works have entered the contest , including 282 solo dances, pas de deux and trio dances, and 405 group dances, from areas and units all over the nation. 167 works were performed during the final contest. The judge of the contest consisted of famous artists and experts, such as Pan Zhitao, Li Xu, Feng Shuangbai, etc.
