With a history of more than 2,000 years, the oldest Great Wall – Qi Great Wall in Shandong Province was built over 400 years earlier than the well-known globally Qin Great Wall in Beijing. The Great Wall was originally built in the Spring and Autumn, and Warring States Periods (770 – 256 B.C.) as a defensive fortification by the State of Qi. According to statistics, the overall length of the Qi Great Wall was 618.9 kilometers across 8 cities and 18 counties of the province, including Jinan, Tai’an, Laiwu, Zibo, Weifang, Linyi, Rizhao and Qingdao cities. [rednet.cn]
