The 78-day shut-down of the fisheries across the Bohai Sea and part of the Yellow Sea, ended at noon on September 1. Over 7,000 fishing boats sailed out to fish from a port in Weihai City, Shandong Province.

No fishing boats should go fishing to the south of 35 degrees north latitude before midday on September 16.

The Weihai Maritime Safety Administration, Weihai Ocean and Fishery Bureau and Shandong Coast Guard have already cleared the seaways with an eight-day-long cruise since August 28.

The June-September ban is aimed at protecting the fish stock in the Bohai and Yellow seawaters. It is said that authorities will severely punish any illegal fishing activities.
