The western elevated road of the second ring road in Jinan will open by the end of September. The main road of Beiyuan Elevated Road was completed on Sept. 10.

Beiyuan Elevated Road was built in 2007, yet was left with an unfinished dead end near Huanggang. With the completion of the western second ring road, this cul-de-sac is about to become a thing of the past. Passengers will soon be able to enjoy a smooth ride directly to Jinan West Railway Station down Beiyuan Road.

The ring road adopts first-grade highway standards. The designed speed is 60km per hour, and six lanes are available in either direction.

A new toll gate, next to the previous Tianqiao toll gate on the overpass, will open on Sept. 28, 500 meters southwest of its original spot. The new broadened entrance can ease the freeway's traffic pressure.

This overpass is also expected to extend south no sooner than next year, running from Duandian Overpass to the southern Raocheng Expressway, with a full length of 10,219 meters. An additional two interchanges will appear on this road.

Jinan will construct a three-dimensional transport system, including elevated roads, ground expressways and freeways.
