According to reports from Shandong Broadcasting and TV Station, Changdao County in Shandong will make its islands suitable for vacations by promoting its "blue charm."

A water diversion project is currently underway, the completion of which will see a water supply of 10 thousand cubic meters per day from Penglai to Changdao by the end of the year.

"The lack of water will be completely solved after this injection of fresh water," said Xie Hengzhi, director of the Changdao County Water Supplies Bureau.

Apart from the water supply, the infrastructure, environmental protection of the islands and their electricity network transformation have also gone into full swing since the "Changdao holiday islands developmental planning" got published. The tourist service facilities will be upgraded with an investment of 800 million yuan.

Zhang Tingting, CPC party secretary of Changdao County, said that the project will be funded by not only the provincial government, but the Yantai Municipal Government as well.

"The developmental orientation of the islands provides Changdao's transformation with a favorable strategic platform and a good environment," he said.

Around 1.356 million tourists visited Changdao in 2012, bringing the area around 2 billion yuan in tourism revenue.
