Major economic zones built by national strategies and programs impel Shandong to develop in a well-coordinated manner through overall planning.

The Yellow River Delta High-Efficiency Economic Zone, Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone, Economic Circle of Metropolitan area of Jinan in Central Shandong and West Shandong Economic Belt are major economic zones in the province to boost provincial economic and social development in an all-round way.

The West Shandong Economic Belt is the relatively more backward one among them. With a series of policies put forward, the area, which has advantages in terms of geography and resources, is expected to grow up in the not distant future through innovation of development mode, finance, science and technology and government management services.
