Yantai and Weihai, two coastal cities in Shandong Province, were listed among the top 10 Chinese safe cities, according to a report recently released by the China Institute of City Competitiveness.
They were respectively ranked number five and nine. The other eight cities were Hong Kong, Taipei, Shenzhen, Lhasa, Xuzhou, Changsha, Huizhou, and Yuxi.
The top safe cities are characterized by no catastrophic accidents, good public security, an advantageous investment environment, safe consumer products, sustainable ecological development, a good internet environment for citizens, enterprises and government, and information security safeguards.
