Established in the Qin and Han Dynasties, the ancient city of Tai'erzhuang, developed vigorously in the Tang and Song Dynasties and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

It was reputed as "The Best Town" in the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty as the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal changed its route to run through Tai'erzhuang, which led to the abrupt rise of its society and economy.

In history, North and South cultures collided and blended here, and hence integrated into a specific landscape of the Northern watery region. In 2009, the ancient city underwent a complex and difficult reconstruction.

The ancient city Tai'erzhuang is full of vitality and always the focus of the public. Here are hundreds of temples, hotels, industries and arts. Its long history, splendid culture, numerous local celebrities, interesting stories and anecdotes have formed its unique charm through which tourists could appreciate its greatness and depth.
