2006 was the founding year of the cultural and creative industry in Qingdao. That same year, the Creative 100 Industrial Park was founded in Qingdao Shinan District. The first cultural and creative industry park in the province performed the overture for the area’s industrialization of creativity.

In 2012, the added value of the cultural industry in Shinan District was 4.97 billion yuan, increased by 29.4 percent from one year earlier. In the first three quarters of 2013, the added value of the cultural industry was estimated to be 4.25 billion yuan.

In the coming years, the development of creative industries is expected to maintain strong momentum. Besides Zhonglian Creative Square, 1388 Cultural Street, Qingdao Software Park and Qingdao International Anime Game Park, Shinan District will set up the Yin Hai Yacht Club, Olympic Sailing Center, Firewood Court and Qilu Cultural and Creative Industry Park.
