As one of the temples in Sakya Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, the Lhakang Temple has spanned over 1,000 years, with a construction style of Tibetan and Han ethnic groups. The temple worships a statue of Princess Wen Cheng, which is considered as a commemoration for the exchange between Tibetan and Han ethnic groups. Princess Wen Cheng, daughter of Emperor Li Shimin of the prosperous Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.), was married to Tibetan King Songtsan Gambo in 641. [Xinhua Photo]
