In line with the 11th Five-Year Plan, 60 unmanned automatic weather stations will be set up in the areas along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, by large reservoirs, near power plants, by lakes and in geological disaster-prone areas in Tibet Autonomous Region.

Those stations are expected to play an essential role in analyzing and predicting Tibet's ever-changing weather. Besides, the low-cost stations also can collect and store large amounts of weather data which will be conducive to tapping the climatic resources in Tibet accurately.
