Local people help relief work

People in the quake areas are doing their utmost to help the rescue work. Many people flooded to hospitals to donate blood. Also, the Sichuan Provincial Hospital has dispatched six medical teams to Dujiangyan City.

Late Monday evening, people in Chengdu lined up at hospitals to donate blood.

A Local resident said, "I heard the broadcast calling for people to donate blood. I think during this special moment, it is our responsibility to help those people in need."

The city also set up two temporary blood donor clinics to help boost the supply of blood.

Doctors and nurses in Sichuan Provincial Hospital spent all night treated the injured, who were mainly from Dujiangyan City.

President of Sichuan Provincial Hospital said, "We received more than 30 groups of patients, and we've already done more than 60 operations."

In another hospital in Chengdu, doctors are helping patients back into buildings evacuated after the earthquake.

A doctor said, "We've successfully moved nearly 300 patients back to the buildings, most of them are pregnant women and babies."

No one at the hospital was injured by the quake and four pregnant women gave birth.

The staff in local hospitals have experienced an "International Nurses' Day" they won't soon forget as they helped hundreds people.

Conditions in these hospitals are basically back to normal.
