Chengdu army authorized to direct military rescue efforts

China's Central Military Commission has authorized the Chengdu Military Command to direct all the rescue efforts by armed forces after a massive quake jolted southwest China's Sichuan Province Monday afternoon.

Besides the armed forces from the Chengdu Military Command, the Chengdu Military Command will direct all other armed forces including those from Jinan Military Command and General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
