As rescue teams race to save lives in the earthquake zone, resettling survivors and preventing disease outbreaks are also key.

In the latest move, the Chinese military is sending nearly 1,200 tons of emergency relief to the disaster areas including generators, portable toilets and water dispensers.

Meanwhile, more than 13,000 health workers are sterilizing quake ruins and temporary shelters in the eleven hardest-hit areas to prevent disease. They are being guided by 30 experts from the Ministry of Health's Disease Control Center.
