Indonesia will soon send aid materials and medical teams to China to help the rescue efforts in the earthquake-hit regions, Director of the Crisis Center of the Health Ministry Rustam Pakaya said Monday.
Rahmi Utoro, a senior official from health ministry, said Indonesia would offer 5 tons medicine, 5 tons logistics, a 68- strong medical team and others health workers, as well as one field hospital.
A total of 102 volunteers from the military, police and rescue teams would take part in the humanitarian mission, which will stay in China for up to one month, said Pakaya.
"We expect the aids will arrive in the evening (of Wednesday) in China along with the advance team," while the main part of the mission will leave on Sunday, Pakaya told reporters after a launch ceremony at the health ministry.
The volunteers had much experience on how to handle victims of natural disaster in Indonesia, he added.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Saturday asked the preparation of humanitarian assistance to China, where more than 34,000 people were killed in a magnitude 8.0 earthquake.
