Sunday's huge aftershock has killed six people and injured nearly 1000 in southwest and northwest China. Measuring 6.4, it was the strongest since the initial magnitude eight earthquake two weeks ago.

In Qingchuan County in Sichuan province, the epicenter of the aftershock, one person was killed and more than 700 people injured. Telecommunications were cut off in nine villages and towns in the county.
In northwest Gansu Province, the city of Longnan reported one death and more than 100 injuries with 15 in serious condition. And in the city of Hanzhong, in Shaanxi province, four people were killed and 20 others seriously injured.
