Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has urged on Sunday local Party committees to step up efforts in getting quake victims settled down in the post-quake reconstruction work.
Xi made the remarks at a post-quake reconstruction meeting held by the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, pointed out that the quake relief work in the current phase was still arduous and urged party organizations at all levels to spare no efforts in settling down victims and resuming production.
He called on party members at all levels to carry on their spirit of devotion and set examples for other people in the fight against the quake.
Xi said the front line of the quake relief work should be the place where all party members are tested.
At the same time, efforts should be made to ensure stable, fast economic development and make earnest preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he added.
Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), presided over the meeting.
The May 12 earthquake that jolted southwest China's Sichuan province has killed at least 69,016 people and injured 368,545 as of Sunday noon.
