More than twenty concerts will be held to celebrate the New Year
in Beijing, but concerns have been raised about the uneven quality
of many shows.
A number of media organizations have published opinions saying
the New Year concert industry needs tighter regulations because
it's developing so fast and with so much potential.
Beijing Daily Messenger reports the quality of the
concerts is patchy because they're performed by a variety of
Chinese and international orchestras with different levels of
experience.
Tan Lihua, the Art Director of Beijing Symphony Orchestra, is
familiar with the phenomenon.
He says a lot of the orchestras are neither formal nor
professional, and they stage the concerts just for money.
Guan Xia, Chief of China National Symphony Orchestra, says the
concert organizers should be responsible for ensuring the quality
of their concerts, but related government departments should also
impose tough controls.
