Construction of an "Ice Palace" was recently completed near the
Tianchi Lake, adding new appeal to the beautiful natural scenic
spot located in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous
Region.
The steel-structured house is encrusted with ice, and stretches
across 1,000 square meters. Inside, a variety of ice sculptures are
on display, each imbued with local flavor.
Visitors to the Tianchi Lake will soon be treated with local
cuisine and entertaining performances in the palace.
Tianchi Lake, literally meaning "Lake of Heaven," is known for
its gorgeous natural view. The temperature in winter there is
usually around minus ten degrees Celsius.
