Top scholar in copyright case
Adjust font size:

The Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court has accepted a copyright case involving Yu Qiuyu, a well-known scholar of drama and the Chinese culture.

Shanghai Daya Culture Broadcast Co Ltd and its legal representative surnamed Wang filed a lawsuit, saying that the new copy of a collection of essays by Yu published in 2002 used 48 pictures without its permission.

The plaintiffs asked Yu and the collection publisher to stop copyright violations and pay 720,000 yuan (US$101,266) in compensation. The plaintiffs also asked their names be included on the book's cover.
