The Olympic torch relay continues its journey around China. Artists across the Taiwan Strait express their eager anticipation for the upcoming games through their arts. Wu Xuansan, a celebrated Taiwan artist, presents to his mainland counterparts, his latest works echoing the Olympic slogan "One World, One Dream".
Entering the green-covered Chaoyang park in Beijing, one finds many sculptures spotted around. These sixty pieces are of various shapes and sizes. They add a strong primitive touch to the lovely spring days. The totem designs, expressing the vitality of the human spirit, have a kind of magical quality capable of rousing the viewer to know more about Mother Nature.
As the artist, Wu Xuansan says, he wants to deliver a universal message, to create perfect unity surpassing barriers of language, religion and nationality.
Wu Xuansan, Taiwan artist, said, "Taking this piece 'A New Hope' for instance. The bird on the top symbolizes peace, harmony and the stability of our society. The part below means unity and happiness. I think this is all what we hope and dream of. And this coincides with the Olympic spirit."
Wu's exhibition in Chaoyang Park runs till the middle of October. Organizers say they're planing a tour,to bring people from Taiwan to Beijing, for a close up view of this year's Olympics.
