Early this year, the group created the visually bold advertisement in response to a new law on the care for the elderly who live alone in the Netherlands.
Under the law, old people could no longer have their own private care workers to help them bathe every week. Instead, the government would send in different part-time care workers to cut the expense.
In the advertisement, an old lady taking off her clothes in front of the camera accents the theme that if she can be nude in front of different people every week, she might as well be nude in front of the nation.
The advertisement provoked debate about the home-care policy for the elderly and two weeks later, the law was changed.
"We are more concerned about social problems," says Widdershoven. "We are happy to find out what we can do to influence the society in a good way."
Amsterdam-based Thonik creates design works, including identity programs, media campaigns and book designs. The group started in cultural sector when it was first established in 1993.
