Many people long to enter the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing to appreciate its renowned arts scene. However, not everyone is blessed with the opportunity to visit the Chinese capital.
So with the help of the internet, the NCPA is taking its art right to the homes of aficionados around the world. Starting this Sunday, July 13, the arts body is organizing its first ever live web cast of a lecture given by music critic Chen Li.
Mr. Chen will conduct an appreciation session of the three major annual concerts of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Classical music lovers can enjoy the musical journey by visiting NCPA's official website, www.chncpa.org.
NCPA promises to give regular live web casts of its programs in the future to provide audiences with more opportunities to appreciate art performances.
Mr. Chen's lecturer will first give an overall introduction of the top three concerts, namely New Year's Eve Concert, Forest Concert, and European Concert, and then delve deeper into their features. Some classical pieces will be selected and presented to the audience.
Beginning on the evening of December 31 in the world-famous Berlin Philharmonic and, the New Year's Eve Concert is a musical feast which welcomes in the New Year with graceful melodies. The Forest Concert is held annually every summer in the open air of Berlin's Waldbühne forest, drawing numerous music lovers to enjoy the show. And on May 1, the anniversary of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the European Concert is staged to celebrate the event.
