Cast member Shia LaBeouf poses at the premiere of "Transformers" at the Mann's Village theatre in Los Angeles June 27, 2007. LaBeouf was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after an early morning car accident in which he was injured early Sunday, according to a police official. |
"It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest.
"He subsequently injured his head, knee and hand and was hospitalized," Wolf said.
A woman passenger in LaBeouf's car and the driver of the other vehicle were not seriously injured.
Wolf said LaBeouf was booked for misdemeanour DUI (driving under the influence) and then released.
The accident occurred when LaBeouf made a left turn in front of the other vehicle, causing a collision in which his car rolled over, according to Wolf.
LaBeouf, star of last summer's blockbuster "Transformer," has had previous brushes with the law, but each was relatively harmless.
In November last year, he was arrested in a Chicago Walgreen Co. store after a drunken confrontation with security guards. The trespassing charge was later dropped after the drugstore asked that the case be dismissed.
