The new SuperBand formed by four big names in Chinese music will either make history or die out, because it has only one year to thrive, one band member says.
Chang Chen-Yue, a 34-year-old Taiwan rock sensation and the youngest member of SuperBand, said all of the band members have agreed on the band's one-year life span, Shanghai Youth Daily reported on Tuesday.
Chang was in Shanghai promoting his solo concert scheduled for August 30 at the Shanghai Grand Stage.
He described SuperBand as a "bet" for each member.
"No matter how it develops, we will break up one year later," he says.
The band was founded last month by Chang, Wakin Chau, Lo Ta-yu and Jonathan Lee, each a heavyweight figure in the Chinese music scene.
Chang says that in its short life, the band will strive to release an album, complete a tour, and compete for glory at the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards, the Chinese equivalent of the U.S. Grammys.
