Chen, who has conquered millions of hearts over a decade simply by crooning with a guitar, had to add eight extra songs at Beijing Exhibition Theater to gratify fans on Sunday. This was after a three-hour show the night before when Chen had to persuade excited fans to go home after four encores.
The two shows followed Chen's Hong Kong gigs last week, which also attracted full houses.
An independent and innovative musician, 33-year-old Chen attracts attention with her pure voice and a fusion of folk and rock. Some critics have described her singing while playing her Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar as "unique and attractive."
