9. Quantum of Solace

In 2008, James Bond returned to China early, nine days before he appeared in North America. This was an honour that the superspy franchise has never before received in China with the result that like its predecessor, Casino Royale, the movie made history here. No one seems to have been disappointed, and to date the film has grossed about 150 million yuan (about US$21 million) in the Chinese market.

As an action flick, the 22nd James Bond movie is good. It is very tense, and the life-and-death chases and realistic fight scenes keep audiences glued to the edge of their seats.

Actor Daniel Craig proves himself again an excellent choice for the role of James Bond. But the movie does seem to have lost something – the spy's identity – and it is too much like the Bourne movies. Maybe in the next installment, James Bond will rediscover himself.
