U.S. pop superstar Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, told the police that the R&B star Chris Brown choked her while threatening to kill her and, subsequently, she lost consciousness, according to U.S. media reports Wednesday.

Brown, 19, was arrested and charged with the alleged domestic assault of his girlfriend, Rihanna, 20, whose hit songs include "Umbrella" and "Disturbia," on Sunday night. He was released after posting a 50,000-U.S.-dollar bail.
The squabble began after the pair left Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party late Saturday. Brown pulled his silver Lamborghini to the side of a street in Hancock Park neighborhood in Los Angeles when Rihanna grabbed the car keys and tossed them out the window, sending Brown into a rage.
Brown left the scene, according to reports, and the Barbados-born beauty was found by police with a bloody nose, split lip and bite marks in the vehicle. She was immediately taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, but later released.
"She looked distraught and in a lot of pain. Her eyes were closed because she was looking down," a police who was at the scene told media.
The police delivered their case to prosecutors Tuesday, but the district attorney sent them back to the drawing board.
"LAPD did present a case this morning and we have asked for further investigation," Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said.
