Hong Kong entertainer Gillian Cheung embroiled in the sex photo scandal, will be interviewed exclusively on Stephen Chan's show "Be My Guest" on TVB tonight.
The actress will inevitably be asked about the sex photo scandal. Stephen Chan, also the general manager of Television Broadcast Limited (TVB), disclosed they had prior agreement with her company, Emperor Entertainment Group, that Cheung would be open to questioning about the scandal.
According to Stephen Chan, the interview will be broadcast on Saturday, March 7th.
Meanwhile, Cheung's rumored boyfriend Alex Fong, has reportedly sent her a message of support, a report on China News Service says.
The sex photo scandal that involved the arrest of several actresses last year had almost become yesterday's news. However the interview is bound to spark a further media frenzy following Edison Chen's testimony in a Canadian court about the case in February.
In light of Edison Chen's testimony, Cecilia Chung, confirmed as one of the victims, came out of seclusion to spew her anger over what she called Chen's "hypocrisy" while discussing her own regrets over her misdoings on Hong Kong-based i-cable show program.
Remorseful and candidly talking about the scandal in front of the video cameras, Cecilia was met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction from viewers. However there were also those who didn't look on her performance so favorably, claiming the actress was paving the pay for her comeback.
However, having missed the chance to speak out initially, it is thought Gillian Cheung's belated appearance will invite comparisons to Cecilia's public interview in February.
Gillian Cheung's public apology at a press conference in February is still fresh in people's minds. She admitted her behavior had been "naive and very silly" shortly after the surfacing of the scandal. However, people deemed her statement as "lame".
Mani, Gillian Cheung's agent, mentioned the press conference and explained that they were "in a rush" at that time asking people to give her a chance and listen when she was ready to talk.
According to the report on China News Service, Mani remarked the interview on "Be My Guest" will revolve around Gillian Chung's personal journey and the ups and downs she has experienced in her life.
TVB has asked netizens to suggest questions for Cheung online. Some of them wee published on Sohu.com. Thorny suggested questions were "Do you think Edison was ever in love with you or is he just a playboy?" and "What's your feeling when people address you as 'naive and silly?'"
However, what exactly will Stephen Chen ask? How deep will he probe her on the scandal? How much will Gillian Cheung bear to recall? Will this interview be a career-defining moment for the actress?
Lots of question marks still hang around the interview but the answers will no doubt be revealed soon.
