Winners of "Chan's Disciples," are at the filming set, playing supporting roles in "Junior Soldiers" starring Jackie Chan and Wang Lee-hom. |
Jackie Chan is reuniting with his "disciples" and Taiwan pop singer Wang Lee-hom in his latest film, "Junior Soldiers (Dabing Xiaojiang)."
Seven winners of "Chan's Disciples," a TV reality show aimed at unearthing kung fu stars, have supporting roles.
Junior Soldiers, Wang's follow-up to his debut in Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution (Se, Jie)," is set in the Qin Dynasty (BC 221-206). Wang plays a young general who befriends Chan's soldier in wartime.
Chan started writing the script 20 years ago. At that time he planned to play Wang's role himself but two decades later, has bowed to age and gone for a younger candidate. Rumor says that his wife Joan Lin chose Wang because she is a fan of his, something Chan has not yet commented.
Chan is producing the project with mainland director Ding Sheng behind the camera. The film is being shot in Yunnan province.
