Following a successful Shanghai gig on Sunday, organizers announced that the Beijing leg of Taiwan singer-songwriter Joanna Wang's concert tour has been postponed indefinitely.
Inadequate time for preparation lead to the cancellation, as the schedule for the concert, set for July 4 at the Workers' Stadium, was confirmed late, the Beijing Morning Post quoted the organizers as saying.
The singer said she was sorry, and apologized to her fans in Beijing. She hopes the show can be staged at another time, the organizers said.
Those who have bought tickets can get refunds before July 4.
In January 2008, Joanna Wang, then 19 years old, released her debut album, "Start from Here". The double-disc set, one in Chinese and one in English, featured the same songs in both languages. The album was an immediate hit throughout Southeast Asia and won several awards. With a low, deep jazzy voice, the crooner was called China's Norah Jones and Lisa Ono.
Earlier this year the singer's second double album, "Joanna & Wang Ruo Lin", which are her English and Chinese names, was released. The new release packages "The Adult Storybook", comprised of the singer's own compositions, and "Joanna & Wang Ruo Lin", in which she re-interprets other singers' hit singles, like "Vincent" and "Times of Your Life".
The promo-tour titled "The Adult Storybook" opened with two shows in Hong Kong on March 6 and 7. The 6000 tickets were reportedly sold out within two days.
