Posthumous honor for Luo Jing

Senior newsreader Luo Jing, who passed away last month will likely be honored by the Golden Microphone Awards this year, the top award for Chinese anchors and newsreaders.

Luo's colleague, Li Ruiying, a newsreader from News Broadcast, the most viewed TV news program in China, confirmed the plan at a press conference on Tuesday.

Luo was a member of the awards jury for many years, so never had the chance to be honored. Li was in the same position.

This year's Golden Microphone, hosted by Beijing TV, will also feature a forum of newsreaders nationwide and an online survey of "Unforgettable Voices in 60 Years" to celebrate the upcoming 60th National Day in October.

With a 16-year history, the Golden Microphone Awards honors 40 anchors and programs every year, among which the top 10 TV anchors are the most eagerly anticipated.

Beijing TV will broadcast the award ceremony in October.
