Cherie Blair, wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, showed up Sunday in Shanghai to promote the Chinese version of her autobiography at the ongoing Shanghai Book Fair.

Invited by Shanghai People's Publishing House, publisher of the Chinese version, Cherie Blair arrived in Shanghai Friday, one day after the start of the book fair, an annual event.

The Chinese version of Cherie Blair's autobiography, "Speaking for Myself", was translated by He Jun and Yu Shuxian and has 319,000 Chinese characters. In particular, she wrote a preface to mark the debut of the Chinese version.

More than 1,000 copies of the book were sold at the book fair on Sunday, said a spokesman for the publisher.

Cherie Blair and her daughter will leave for Beijing Tuesday and attend another formal event to mark the publishing of the Chinese version of the autobiography at the Great Hall of the People on Wednesday.
