'60 years of Chinese fine art' exhibition manifesting the great art achievements from the founding of New China in 1949 to the present opens at a grand exhibition at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing on Friday.

The exhibition takes a retrospective look at the artistic achievements of Chinese fine arts over the past six decades. On display will be 687 items, some of which are on loan from major provincial museums and galleries. There are also masterpieces from private collectors.
The subjects portrayed in the exhibits cover a wide range from the grand ceremony of the founding of New China, China's opening up 30 years ago to the splendid scenery of the country, and the upbeat spirit of the Chinese people.
Director of the National Art Museum of China, Fan Di'an said at a press release that the show also includes comic strips, poster art, and New Year pictures, which are a traditional art form in China's folk culture.
The exhibition runs till Sept. 14.
