Chinese Government Publicizes 30 Best Food Brands

China's Ministry of Commerce on Monday publicized 30 name brands of domestic food products so as to guide the public to buy safe food.

The 30 best food brands include 10 spirit brands, 10 meat-related product brands and 10 vegetable brands. All these food brands enjoy large sales volumes, high quality and good reputations among the public, said Huang Hai, assistant minister of Commerce at a press conference on food safety.

Maotai and Wuliangye, two renowned spirit brands that many foreigners are familiar with, are among the 30 best food brands.

The Chinese government is paying more attention to the food safety issue, which has become the limelight of the public due to the recent detection of some potentially harmful toxins such as Sudan I red dye and malachite green in some food products.
