Datastream Systems, Inc. announced Monday that Shenzhen Metro Company has deployed the Datastream 7i(TM) Asset Performance Management solution to optimize the performance of assets at its new railway system in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province.
Datastream 7i enables Shenzhen Metro to manage all of the components involved with its rail system, including over 21 kilometers of underground rail lines, with the same ease as its discrete assets such as rail stations and equipment.
Previously, transportation assets have been particularly difficult to manage due to the challenges involved with locating and managing specific asset components and segments across large geographic areas.
However, with Datastream 7i, Shenzhen Metro can easily track costs, conduct maintenance, and analyze data on more than 250,000 assets distributed across the railway -- including telecommunication and signal equipment, power transmissions, water drains, fire control equipment, railway doors, equipment monitors, ticket machines, elevators and escalator systems.
The device also enables Shenzhen Metro to gain control over its inventory-management operations, so that Shenzhen Metro has reduced the time required to calculate proper inventory levels from up to four days to just three hours each month.
