An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted the sea waters off Taitung City of Taiwan at about 5:06 PM (0906 GMT) on Sunday, according to a report reaching here from Taipei.
The epicenter was determined to be located at 16.8 kilometers off the meteorological station of the city, local meteorological station said.
There has been no immediate casualty report by the press time.
