A total of 226 Chinese police officers have had the rank of commissioner third class conferred on them to mark the tenth anniversary of the implementation of the police ranking system in China.
A regulation on the implementation of the police rank system was enacted by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's legislature, on July 1 in 1992.
Under the system police officers are ranked in five grades -- commissioner-general, commissioner, supervisor, superintendent andconstable.
According to the regulation, those promoted to police ranks must undergo special training.
There are more than 200,000 police officers who have accepted such training prior to their promotion.
