Vice-premier Stresses Training of Management Personnel

China attaches importance to training talented management personnel, introduction of technologies and exchanges of management experience in its cooperation with transnational companies, said Vice-premier Wu Bangguo in Beijing Thursday.

Wu made the remarks in a meeting with James Mulva, chairman & CEO of Phillips Petroleum Co., the third largest petroleum company in the United States.

"Only by doing so can Chinese enterprises improve their strength as well as their ability to compete with their foreign rivals," he stressed.

He also gave an account of the development of energy industry in China, noting that the Chinese government has always supported foreign companies to involve themselves in China's energy exploitation and development.

Mulva said his company has good cooperation with Chinese partners, hoping for more cooperation opportunities with Chinese counterparts.

Mulva is here at the invitation of China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
