Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai's latest hit 2046 raked in 30 million Yuan, or US$3.6 million, over its first ten days at the Chinese box office, reported China Radio International.
The renowned filmmaker, who came fresh from the Ninth Pusan International Film Festival with an outdoor screening of 2046 last Thursday, was very happy with the film's success and expressed his gratitude to his Chinese fans.
Prestigious film critics from the United States have also lauded the film, and it is the first Asian film to get an extensive write-up before being released in the US.
