6.4% Beijing College Students Suffering from IAD

A Beijing study has found 6.4 percent of Chinese college students are suffering Internet Addiction Disorder, or IAD, which can lead to psychological problems.

The study done on the World Mental Health Day, categorizes someone as having Internet Addiction if they spend an average of 38 and a half hours on the Internet a week.

These students spend hours surfing the Internet, net-chatting, sending emails and playing games.

Researchers suggest to start a telephone counseling service or a web site to help addicts.

The ratio of national wide IAD juvenile suffers is reportedly to be 15% in 2004.
